Not always as it appears

When we bought our home we had a home inspection. We knew a lot of what the inspector was going to tell us already but we wanted to know it all. One thing we were told was that the water pressure in the bathroom was not that good. The reason being that is was the farthest away from the supply and the pipes are galvanized with 50+ years of use so they are corroded and don't let enough water travel through. It was recommended to change them to copper. Yes, someday we'll do that.. for now we'll work with what we've got.
When we remodeled the bathroom I bought new fixtures. All was fine. The shower does have lousy pressure. It takes longer to shower because it takes longer to get the shampoo out of your hair, never mind trying to clean the shower. That's a real pain but we adapted.

Recently I had the idea to get a combo shower head with a handheld unit. I thought that would be much more helpful with rinsing and cleaning the shower. I purchased the unit on Friday.
Handsome installed it on Saturday morning.

WOW!
What an amazing difference. There is plenty of water pressure. It's not the pipes. It was the shower head itself.
It's now heaven to shower and don't even get me started on the cleaning part.

Another problem we had was the dishwasher. We replaced the 1974 model with a nice new one. I thought all would be fine. A few loads later and several ruined glasses and glass dishes I was discouraged. Went on the internet to read about recommended solutions.
We have really hard water and the jet dry wasn't enough. Since a water softener is not in the budget I wanted to learn what steps I could do to help the dishwasher. Everything I read said us Borax 20 mule team in addition to liquid detergent. I did that but it didn't make much difference. I ended up washing most glass items by hand. Recently I ran out of the liquid, I still had some powder detergent left so I used it.

WOW!
Everything came out great so I decided to test my theory by washing some of the glass items. They came out great.
It must have been the liquid that was not cutting it. I will no longer have dishpan hands.

It's been a weekend of surprises.

Don't you love when that happens?
