Sunny Day Chores

The sun came out today and gave us a chance to get outside and clean up some of the storm left overs.

This tree is on the side of our house. I took the picture from across the street so you could see just how darn tall this sucker is. It drops pine needles year round but this time of year it gives us a special treat of dropping little cone seed pod things. They get everywhere. Our gutters were overflowing and the ground was covered.
We spent the day raking and cleaning up the piles, then clearing the gutters.

This is the whole corner of our lot.
The tree next to the pine tree is a Magnolia.
It's beautiful when it blooms but it also drops
seed pods this time of year.
Those were all raked up and put in the green waste too.

Today I'm thankful for our big beautiful trees.
The may be work but I love them.

The only good Magnolia is the one in someone else's yard. We--gasp--cut the one down that was in our backyard. I hate those seed pod things. Once I paid my grandson and granddaughter a penny for each one they picked up. I had to shell out $10!
