Yesterday I was adding some books to my library list. I noticed I was next for one of the books on my list. Exciting. Since the library is only open from Wed-Sat I prepared to return what I had and pick up my newest book today.
I went to the library as planned. Dropped off my books and mentioned I had something on hold. She looked, nope nothing. Did they call m? No, but I know I'm next. Sorry, it's not here. Maybe tomorrow.
I get home. About 1 hour later I get an email from the library. My book is in. To the library I go. As soon as I walk in the door the librarian says "Hi Shawn" with a big smile. I tell her "I told you I had a book" We both laugh. Yes, I had a book.
I love going to my library and not needing my card. They know me by face and name. I don't think it's like that in the big city. Just one more reason I love my small town.
Oh, the book. "Under the Dome" by Stephen King.
I hope it's good.

I'm jealous. We used to live in a small town with a library like that. In fact, in the summer my kids "worked" there. They helped with the summer program and even behind the counter checking out books. Now we live in a small city and the library is sad with surly employees. Amazon has become my friend.
